Band yang lahir di Inggris ini dibentuk oleh Jimmy Page setelah bubarnya grup
Yardbirds pada tahun 1967. Tak lama setelah itu, page tertarik dengan warna Vocal milik Robert Plant yang waktu itu masih menjadi vokalis band
Hobbstweedle. Mulai tahun 1968 mereka bergabung di satu grup, sampai akhirnya bassis Chris Dreja hengkang dan posisinya digantikan oleh John paul Jones. Setelah dirasa mereka memerlukan drummer, Page lantas menawarkan Lowongan itu pada John Bonham. Dan setelah Bonham bergabung, merekaMulai membuat jadwal tur konser dengan menamakan grup mereka The New Yardbirds.
Di lanjutkan dengan konser demi konser yang selalu sukses, hingga pada Oktober 1968 mereka mengganti nama menjadi Led Zeppelin. Setelah itu Mereka mulai masuk studio rekaman untuk menggarap album pertama, sampai akhirnya pihak Atlantic Records mengontrak mereka, sekaligus menjadwalkan grup Ini untuk tur konser ke Amerika. Saat merilis album pertama mereka yang diberi judul "Led Zeppelin" pada Januari 1969, hanya dalam waktu dua bulan album ini mampu meraih posisi Pertama di tangga lagu, sekaligus memaksa mereka harus berlelah-lelah Memenuhi jadwal tur dunianya.
Setelah itu Led zeppelin kembali merilis album Kedua "Led Zeppelin II " pada oktober 1969 dan lagi-lagi mampu bertengger Di posisi nomer 1 tangga lagu selama 7 minggu. Dari situ Led Zepeelin disebut- Sebut oleh banyak kalangan sebagai One Of The Greatest Bands. Lalu berturut-Turut mereka meluncurkan album " Led Zeppelin III " ( 1970 ), " Led Zeppelin IV " ( 1971 ) yang menghasilkan lagu-lagu klasik abadi terpopuler seperti Stairway To Heaven, Rock & Roll dan When The Levee Breaks, dan dalam sejarah musik Dunia album ini dikategorikan sebagai Biggest Album, karena terjual hingga 16 Juta kopi. Album Led Zeppelin lainnya adalah "House Of The Holly" (1973) "Physical Graffity" ( 1975 ), "Presence" (Maret 1976), "The Song Remains The Same" (1976) dan "ln Through The Out Door" (1979). Pada tanggal 25 oktober 1980 John Bonham meninggal dunia dan sejak itu Led Zeppelin benar-benar bubar dan tidak akan terbentuk lagi tanpa Bonham.
